Parenting Neurodiverse Young Adults: Navigating the Journey Together
Parenting a neurodiverse young adult can be a deeply rewarding, yet challenging journey. After spending over a decade working in schools as a clinical social worker and consultant, I’ve had the privilege of supporting hundreds of teens and families. My expertise in Autism Spectrum Disorder (formerly Asperger’s), ADHD, and other learning differences has been shaped by hands-on experience, cutting-edge training, and coaching. I’ve seen firsthand how families grow stronger, more resilient, and more connected when given the right tools and support.
I’m passionate about helping parents of neurodiverse young adults navigate this unique chapter with confidence and clarity. Together, we can work on:
-
Understanding your child’s strengths and challenges: Gain a deeper, more compassionate understanding of your young adult’s unique neurodiverse traits, and learn how to best support them on their path to independence.
-
Improving communication and support: Develop effective communication, listening, and emotional support strategies that strengthen your relationship and foster understanding.
-
Prioritizing your own well-being: Parenting a neurodiverse child can bring its own set of stressors. I’ll help you build the tools to care for yourself so you can show up as your best self for both you and your child.
-
Helping your young adult thrive: Whether they’re navigating school, work, or independent living, I’ll work with you to support your child’s growth, independence, and success as they take on new challenges.
-
Supporting your child’s identity: Help your young adult navigate and embrace their sexuality and gender identity with understanding, acceptance, and love, fostering a safe environment for them to explore who they truly are.
